Here comes my super long post. Teehee~ *teeth
Last Sunday marked a memorable day as the most'adorable' duck is finally back after a almost 3 years hiatus. Excited as I was, my parents got up early and cleaned the house sparkly clean, almost as the house couldn't helped much. At 11am, we dressed in our best, (best to see The Duck), ans set off to Penang International Airport.
Her return was more like a food trip as there are soo many things The Duck missed during this period of time. It was a nice afternoon (how could it not be when The Duck is here?! Hehe) and we decided to stopped by Double Good Restaurant on the way back from the airport. We had Chinese cuisine, which could hardly be found in London.
Stir-fry Water Spinach with Sambal (马来风光)
Mongolian Pork Ribs. This tasted a bit funny to me, but according to The Duck I was being racist. =.=
Sizzling Hot Plate Tofu. The gravy was too overwhelming but the huge amount of meat chucks made it up.
Sweet and Sour Chicken. This is definitely the best dish of the day.

We got home and The Duck unloaded her stuff (two week's smelly, unwashed clothes!!), had a nice bath and we proceeded to Sunshine Farlim in search of slacks and Adventist egg tarts. Hehe. Since assam laksa appeared as top 7 in the CNN must eat food in the world, how can we missed it out from the list? So we headed to the famous Penang assam laksa which is located near the foot of Kek Lok Si Temple.
Combining the flavours of spicy, sourish, savoury and sweetness in a bowl of goodness. Tantalising our every tastebuds!
Penang Laksa
Pasar Air Itam, Jalan Pasar
RM3.00 per bowl

The 1st day ended with more shopping at Gama Supermarket for slacks and lingerie. *evil grin

The 2nd day started with me waking up alone as my sis went for a passport renewal. I understand that Malaysian made passport comes with a chip while doing it other country may be otherwise. Had breakfast and continue my daily routine of a 'housekeeper'
They came back with Penang Coconut Jelly! According to a source from I-forgot-where, to make the jelly, the husk of the coconuts are first removed and then bake at a certain temperature for a certain period. After that, remove and let to cool. After cooling, chill the coconuts at certain temperature. The jelly is formed from this process.
Silky smooth jelly
The Duck's new found 'toy'. Dua Tao aka 大头. What's with the grin?
Caught red-handed making D.T. talked!!
Dinner was at Padang (Malay for field) at Jalan Anson near the petrol station. The hawkers there start their business at around 6pm everyday. However, be warned that there is no shelter (consider this open air enjoyment), the tables and chairs are not in their best form, some stray dogs/cats might be lingering around and the drinks are made at the roadside.
However, all these did not stopped us from getting a bowl of this yummy Wan Tan Mee, though the quality is rather inconsistent. Make your bet. What makes it different is the gravy which contains lard that gives the significant taste.
The Duck's Wan Tan Mee. I personally like the wantan there a lot. Succulent pork wrapped in the smooth wantan skin.
Wan Tan Mee
Padang, Jalan Anson
RM2.50 (Small) ; RM3.50 (large)
Closed on Mondays
Went for a walk at the not-so-new Tesco Tg. Pinang. This is a rather classy version of Tesco compared to the other two and there are outlets of Sakae Sushi, Bread History, McDonald's, KFC Fried Chicken, Hakka Tree, Mizi Bistro and even Swenson's. There are also stores selling, shoes, electronic gadgets, health products, clothes, etc..
Greetings from The Duck with a huge grin on a white face.

On the 3rd day, we went to Perak Road aka 大路后 market which is located just behind my house. We walked there as early as 7.30am. The Duck insisted that it might rain judging from the dark sky (still early morning la Wei...) so she brought an umbrella along. XD
The Duck and her craving ended up with this big plate of 'Nyonya Kuih'
(clockwise) Fried Radish Cake, 'Bee Koh' (steamed sweet glutinous rice), 'Huat Kuih', Pandan 'Koo' (coconut filling), 'Tapah Kuih' (peanut filling) and 'Pulut Tekan' (eaten with coconut jam spread)
We had lunch with our ex-babysitter. It has been so long since the three of us had actually gathered together and have a nice talk.
Huge plate of 'Lor Bak', Prawns Fritters and Deep-fried Tofu. Delicious! Once of the best I have had in Penang.
Taman Free School Hawker Centre
Beside the roundabout near Heng Ee High School
Closed on Thursdays
After a filling lunch, the two of us moved on to Queensbay Mall where we did a little shopping for mooncakes and presents. This is the first time we had a 'Sister's Shopping' together. I went for Harry Potter while she met up with her high school close friends.
Had New Zealand's Ice-cream. Her Rum n' Raisin and my Macadamia Supreme. Both best-sellers. Hehe

The 4th day was the day to actually start planning my stay at The Duck's and our 'Sister's Trip'. Woots!~ Since I couldn't help much, I volunteered to buy breakfast. Haha
大包. See the fillings inside. And the juicy fingers holding it. XD
To prove that it is really big, though it failed to cover The Duck's head. Tsk tsk tsk...
The Duck was really doing a very good job at arranging the place-to-visit while looking out for the mode of transport not forgetting the ticket fare. So many things for a duck's brain to take into consideration. Kudos!
Lunch was KFC Fried Chicken since we had a free voucher from my aunt. The Duck claimed that Malaysia's KFC tasted better.
The set came with 3 pieces of OR/Spicy chicken, a bun, coleslaw, wedges (and I thought it was cheesy wedges) and a drink (choice of 7-Up, Pepsi or Miranda).

2nd meeting with ex-babysitter on the 5th day. We went to the Jelutong market. Had a play of hide-and-seek before that. Now I realised the ultimate importance of cell phone.
Chee Cheong Fun. I still prefer the one at Farlim market.
Walked the market, (one of my favourite 'morning exercise' XP) and bought some fruits and biscuits before going home. Continued on the planning before The Duck went for a second gathering with her primary school friends this time.
**********
On the 6th and final day, we met ex-babysitter for the third time. Hehe. Since she was in a hurry to prepare her grandson for school, we went to the morning hawker centre just beside our house. Chattered and the morning past by happily.
Loh Mee. Not my favourite.
"HELP~~~"
Started on my listing of things-to-bring and packing. Noticed that despite a whole closet of clothes, I can't find many nice ones to bring. >.< Let's hope I bring enough.
Dapao-ed lunch back from Batu Lanchang market since The Duck was so busy with the planning and was not in a mood to go out.
Chicken rice. RM3
How we spent the rest of the afternoon away? More talking and fooling around!! You can never imagines a 20+ person doing something like that. ROFL
Talking toe this time! Be careful, it 'bites'.
The Duck's last meal was certainly scrumptious! Aunt, mum's eldest sis, treated us to a Thai cuisine dinner at Aroi Thai Restaurant. This restaurant had just moved to a new shop let at the corner of the same row to it's old location. The owner claimed that he just hired a new batch of cooks so the dishes taste better than before. He was quite friendly and The Duck said he was a sweet talker.
We ordered Tomyam Seafood (very thick but rather spicy for me), Seafood Otak-otak (packed with seafoods and yummy with a strong coconut milk taste), Belachan Kangkung (mediocre) and The Fish (deep-fried covered with spicy sauce cooked with japanese tofu and pork. very special and tasted nice). I did not managed to take pictures of the dishes since it was not so polite to do that in front of the elder's.
Busy digging into the food before 'interrupted' to take a picture. XD
Us! See the renovation was still going on behind us.
Total damage was RM112 for the five of us. Thankiu 大姨 for the meal!

Blissful time past the fastest. In a blink of the eye, my long awaited week has come to an end. Though it was a short one, but I was having one of the best time in my too-long holidays.
Cause you bring out the best in my, like no one else can do.
That's why I'm by your side, that's why I love you.
The Duck: "Owh, so cheesy..."
